History
Old
Speckled Hen was first brewed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire to commemorate the
50th anniversary of the MG car factory. But why "Old Speckled Hen"? Well,
the name is actually derived form the name "owld speckled 'un", a term used
to describe an old Mg car used as a factory run-about. Over time the old
saloon became covered with flecks of paint and was dubbed the "owld speckled
'un" by locals.
Tasting
Notes
In the glass, Old Speckled Hen sparkles like rich, golden
amber, intermingled with warming red tones.
The aroma of Old Speckled Hen
is particularly distinctive - very fruity, but with rich, malty undertones.
Old Speckled Hen
has a wonderful warm flavour, bursting with body. Malt loaf and toffee
flavours combine with a bitterness on the back of the tongue to give a
beautiful, balanced sweetness without being cloying.
The finish is
perfect, dry and satisfying. Go on - indulge yourself! |
